Ecstatic Dance (Drop in)

with Carol Boccaccio

Ecstatic Dance is a form of dance that invites participants to let go of their thoughts, and attune to their body’s natural urge to move to the music. The dancers are led by the rhythmic nature of the songs that arise, with the occasional prompt from the facilitator to listen to their bodies. A set-list is curated from start to finish that offers a wide-range of musical exploration, while also giving the dancers ample time to warm up, dance with abandon, and cool down again.

Ecstatic dancing can be a very stress-relieving form of exercise/practice/meditation. It brings communities together in a speech-free and judgment-free space. It can be very fun, is sometimes emotionally moving, and it is also incredibly beneficial to mental health.

Ecstatic Dance is open to all demographics and abilities. Drugs and alcohol are not tolerated at these events in order to honor the integrity of each individual’s experience of ecstatic dancing in a safe community.
